The Faculty of Biology’s Strategic Development Program is part of the Faculty’s goal of continuously improving its approach to operations for over fifteen years, guided in this case by the DE01 strategic procedure of its Quality Assurance System. The main reference framework that served as a starting point was the Strategic Plan of the University of Vigo (approved by the Senate on December 16, 2020), which defines the University as “a public, autonomous institution, open to the environment and with an international vocation, which promotes equality, plurality, accessibility, sustainability, transparency, economic progress, and the social well-being of Galicia.” With this reference, the Faculty of Biology aims, through its Strategic Development Program, to contribute to the achievement of the University’s mission, focusing its strategic lines and objectives on the challenges established by the institution of which it is a part.

The Strategic Development Program is a central document for the future of the Faculty of Biology, emerging from collective reflection and establishing its roots and identity in an up-to-date, engaging, and closely connected educational program. It also recognizes the value of research, a fundamental pillar for quality teaching that contributes to the generation of knowledge, enriching the environment in which students train and acquire skills to successfully face their professional future. Along these same lines, the Program highlights the environment in which the Faculty’s various groups carry out their work, ensuring the efficient and sustainable use of resources and improving satisfaction. It also seeks to boost its external reach by strengthening its relationship with employers and society at large.
