A graduate in Biology from the University of Santiago de Compostela (1994), Dr Posada obtained his PhD in Zoology from Brigham Young University (United States) in 2001. From 2011 he is tenured lecturer at the University of Vigo. His research is characterised by its multidisciplinarity, since he combines concepts and instruments from Biology, Statistics and Computer Science. He has recently authored studies on genomic phylogenetic analysis, flexographic genomic projects of marine molluscs, and started a new line of research in the field of evolutionary cancer genomics. Dr Posada is the author of more than150 papers in high-impact journals and 21 book chapters, and he has been referenced over 60 000 times, which has made him one of the researchers with the highest number of citations worldwide (highly cited author) for two years in a row, reaching an h-index of 64. In addition, he has received awards from the European Research Council on two occasions.
